Conservatory Roof Windows

A lot of conservatories now have a solid, tiled roof rather than the old polycarbonate or glass type, and that’s where a roof window comes into its own. A tiled conservatory roof keeps the room warmer in winter and cooler in summer, but it can leave the space darker than it used to be. Adding one or two roof windows brings the daylight straight back in, while still keeping all the insulation benefits of the solid roof.

A roof window also lets you control the heat. Conservatories are prone to getting stuffy on a sunny day, so being able to open a window in the roof and let the warm air escape makes the room far more comfortable to use all year round. Both PVC and timber frames work well here; PVC is the easy-care option, while timber suits a conservatory that’s been finished to match the rest of the house.
